The much-anticipated Coinbase direct listing is poised to make co-founder and CEO Brian Armstrong a very wealthy man. At the latest valuation, Armstrong's stake in the company is worth $13.6 billion—which would leave him in the company of recent tech founders like Zoom's Eric Yuan at $16 billion, Twitter's Jack Dorsey at $13 billion dollars, and Shopify's Evan Spiegel at $10 billion in net worth.

This thing has been growing for 11 years non-stop, doubling every 12 months ... We're currently on track for 1 billion people having exposure to Bitcoin as an asset class in the next four years. So, by 2025, 1/8th of the world population will have exposure to this monetary base.

We're 1/8000th of the way there from getting the whole planet into NFT world, and the idea that the most important thing one would do with a piece of interesting art and culture is make a baseball cap is a bizarre failure of imagination. We're going to be in digitally composable spaces.

That's essentially what we're tracking—this destruction of fiat currency as Bitcoin starts to suck in the monetary base. I think what we're witnessing here is the birth of a new monetary base, which is no longer based on fear; it's based on consensus agreement that this has value and this thing is a value that can be stored online [and] digitally moved across borders within seconds. And, so, it's an Internet age technology. It's a new Internet age monetary standard.

We're waiting for the close of the month, of course now, of October, but $63k is in the books ... And if that continues—and frankly, I would be very surprised if it doesn't... we'll go to $98k in November already and $135k Bitcoin in December. So, that will be a very nice Christmas this year if that comes through.

The success of the Bored Apes reset, in many ways, what is now the market standard for PFP collections. I have a fairly aggressive view of this: I believe, now, the only two viable choices for a PFP collection are either commercial rights, like the Bored Apes model, or the whole collection goes into the public domain.

If my goal as a trader has been to accumulate more US dollars, what that now tells me is I had a wrong goal because my goal was to accumulate the weakest asset in the world—the most depreciating asset in the world, and that's US dollars.

NFTs have basically three main categories: PFPs, generative art (on-chain generative art), and one-of-one art ... The first successful collection in two of those three categories was the same two guys, which is an incredible legacy. I mean, even if they retire tomorrow, never did anything else, it's an incredible legacy.

Whether on purpose or by accident, the CryptoPunks have set the base model for what a PFP (profile picture) collection looks like—that it's around 10,000 pieces, that there are dominant hierarchy traits... and that there is a generative aspect in how those various traits are randomly given to each individual punk.

My timing for that hyper-Bitcoinization supercycle event is after 2024, maybe somewhere between 2024 and 2032.

For the first time in Punks' history—and this is going to be a little controversial, I'm going to get yelled at later in the Discord—the Punks are actually in control of their own destiny, because the Punks can do whatever they want now, either individually or in groups.

In my mind, Bitcoin's the legacy. It is crypto. Crypto is Bitcoin; Bitcoin is crypto.

There is a 9.1% overlap between Punk holders and Bored Ape holders.

Part of the problem with Bitcoin mining is 90% of it is not done in the United States; 90% of it is done in countries that have dirty energy.

We're still in a phase where Bitcoin is very, very small compared to traditional assets. Institutional investors either flat-out deny the asset, don't want to have it, think it's for criminals or bad for the environment, and all the stuff you read in the mainstream media, they're still there.

It's an amazing time to be in NFTs, because many things: It's a combination, not just of a new crypto art movement, which it is, but also a new technology for transporting intangibles, which is an unbelievably big topic, because societal intangibles are a multi-deca-trillion-dollar asset class.

MetaMask started as a browser extension. Now, it's also a mobile wallet that lets you connect to applications that might have some amount of their logic that lives on a blockchain—and that part of the logic is usually the value-sensitive part. So, it could be like a token or it could be an NFT or it could be your voting rights in an organization. So, MetaMask is the thing that lets a user hold their own keys, which means they're really kind of personally in control of their accounts. And now they're able to engage with these decentralized applications that just weren't even a category 5 years ago.

April 26th [2021] was the 10th anniversary of Satoshi's last known communication with the Bitcoin community.

There's only about 150 million holders of Bitcoin in the world, and 1 million of them a trading derivatives.

I think, in terms of, you know, a store of value asset, I think Ethereum has been competing for a long time, even as early as 2017.
